Community Safety Partnership
A wide variety of organizations, which had
inherited a responsibility for community safety as part of their
own work, were operating in isolation and there was a need for co-ordination.
Derry City Council CSP held
its inaugural meeting in June 2003. This meeting was in recognition
of the fact that to reduce crime, the fear of crime and tackle anti-
social behaviour, the active participation and representation of
all major stakeholders within the local areas was required. The
partnership has already been successful in receiving funding from
the Northern Ireland Office Community Safety Unit for a number of
local projects. They include the City Centre Rangers project, the
Night Rider Bus Project, A Community Safety Warden for the outer
North Community Safety Taskforce, Ten Stories High, an inter-generational
digital story-telling project and a good Neighbour project.
