Young People

Young people told of their experiences in
relation to the issues of playing safely, making friends, traffic
and the ongoing problems resulting from living in an interface area
in Northern Ireland.
The group looked at how a story is created, the structure of a story
and then discussed issues that related to safety for them. When
devising and recording their experiences some of the young people
worked individually and some in groups of two. The young people
made storyboards to help them identify the images they needed to
take with the digital cameras and to confirm the sequence of the
story. The young people then went to the Verbal Arts Centre recording
studio to record their story. Then the voices and images were edited
together. The young people took great pride in showing their stories
to the older people.
The young people then went out with some
of the older people to take images with the digital cameras to illustrate
the stories the older people had recorded.
