What is Inspiring Readers? - An Introduction:

Inspiring readers:
• Supports reading groups in WELB and Donegal Libraries
• Organises activities encouraging children to read
• Provides reading resources for people who need help with reading

Inspired Readers

• Meet to talk about what they are reading
• Share thoughts and feelings about books
• Discover new writers and new themes

Inspiring Readers is
• Jointly run by Donegal Libraries and Western Education and Library Board (WELB)
• Funded by the EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation.

The project covers the counties of Derry, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Donegal, focusing on areas of greatest social need. The range of reader development activities and experiences are quite different in the WELB and Donegal authorities and so the project represents an opportunity to share best practice and develop specific reader development opportunities, which address issues like social exclusion and cultural identity. Inspiring Readers is a reader development voice for the Western Education and Library Board and Donegal Council County Library Services.

Working with partners such as the Verbal Arts Centre (VAC), Link Inspiring Readers will support the building of coalitions that will maintain the project in the long term.
