| In addition to the listed workshops, the
Verbal Arts Centre has both a creative writer in residence
and an artist in residence. Sessions can be booked with these
two for mentoring, advice and guidance regarding
creative writing and comic book art and illustration.
Creative writer in residence
Catherine McGrotty, Development Officer for Learning and Skills
has a background in journalism and adult literacy teaching.
She holds an MA in Creative Writing at Queen’s University
Belfast, she has been developing creative writing classes
and opportunities with both
adults and young people since joining the Verbal Arts Centre.
Artist in residence
David Campbell is the artist in residence at the Verbal Arts
Centre, specialising in comic book art. David studied at the
University of Ulster at Belfast, where he received his degree
in Visual Communication, and later at Magee, where he gained
his MSc in Computing and Design.
He was employed as a computer colourist producing fully rendered
colour artwork for a range of Marvel and D.C. Comics’
top titles such as Wolverine, X-Men, The Incredible Hulk and
Superboy.
