Poetry texts are extremely flexible - teachers may
nominate any text, poet, form (sonnet, free verse, etc.)
or series of poems to concentrate on in this session.

The session can concentrate on one poet or take the
form of a comparative study of a number of poets. Or
the teacher may wish to concentrate on form and structure.

All of these will be touched upon in the session, if appropriate, but the focus of the session is the teacher's choice.

The poetry workshops will focus on ideas about what
constitutes quality poetry. Examples of poetry will be
provided for comparison and contrast. The idea is to
foster a student's ability to make judgements about
familiar and unfamiliar poetry and defend these
opinions - using the correct terminology.

The workshops are broken down into
three main areas of focus:

1) Focus on Poet
2) Focus on Form
3) Focus on Language and Imagery
