Artist in residence Comic Book Workshops

1. Make your own Flanimal

Age range: 5 - 7
Duration: 1 hour
Group size: 30
Cost: £30 per group

With odd names and strange habits, smells, sounds and faces, Flanimals are the creation of Ricky Gervais, who has created a species of creatures such as the Munge
Fuddler and Gum Spudlet. Pupils will be introduced to the
Flanimals, and then asked to create their own creatures, with the help of our artist in residence and story maker.

2. Books in pictures

Age range: Junior 7 - 9, Senior 9 - 11
(also available for post-primary groups aged 11 - 14)
Duration: 1 hour
Group size: 30
Cost: £30 per group

An interactive workshop led by our artist in residence to create images from favourite books. This hands-on
workshop will feature storytelling through pictures.
Each child who reads a book has their own idea of what each character looks and sounds like. This workshop
allows them to work with an artist to translate what has been written about their favourite character into
a visual representation.

3. Face It

Duration of Workshop: 1 hour 30 mins
Group Size: 30
Age Range: 9 - 11
Cost: £40 per group

A workshop offering the chance to learn how to draw characters’ faces in a comic book style. This workshop will focus on how to draw character traits: what makes
a ‘bad’ character look that way? How do you draw a character to look like a hero?
David Campbell will guide participants through the process of creating a personality for characters created
during the workshop.

Note for teachers:
notification of chosen books should be given in advance.
