Verbal media is a division of the Verbal Arts Centre
The Media division was established in response to changes in technology, and the new ways in which people engage with each other through language and the alternative, hybrid forms of communication that are emerging.
Verbal Media comprises Verbal Online, Verbal Productions (book and magazine publishing – see Verbal magazine), Communications (Marketing, Research, Design and Print).
The division operates across multiple media platforms with the objective of maximising the reach of the Verbal Arts Centre’s mission, ethos, programmes and resources.
Verbal Media has delivered innovative, high quality content across a range of media through commissioning and undertakes both internal and external projects including online content development, monitoring, measurement and analysis, magazine publishing, as well as print and book publishing.
Music 55-7
Music 55-7 website is an innovative classical music agency that promotes concerts, develops education programmes and explores the connections between classical music, other art forms and digital technologies. The site redesign presented Verbal Media with the opportunity to develop a bespoke content management system for the client.
Verbal FM
Verbal FM is an online talk radio station that promotes the culture and oral heritage of the North West of Ireland. Verbal FM trains local people to make radio shows, create their own archive of intangible heritage and develop media skills. Verbal FM tells local stories to a global audience.
2D
2D, the Northern Ireland Comics Festival, was conceived as an exciting way of extending and promoting comic book related work throughout Ireland and the UK. The festival is the largest of its kind in Ireland and is unique to the United Kingdom in that it is the only festival that aims to celebrate the comic book artform and comic book creators.
Void
Our website for the Void gallery recently went live, showcasing the work of this innovative and challenging contemporary art space. Exhibitions range from cutting edge international work to new and emerging artists including Turner prize winner Simon Starling, Dan Shipsides and Common Culture.
Diamond War Memorial
The Verbal Media website for the Diamond War Memorial Project brings the significant research carried out by historian Trevor Temple to a public stage. The site includes close to 1400 biographies of the soldiers who fought in the Great War
Verbal Magazine
Verbal is the single largest monthly publication in Northern Ireland. It is devoted to books, authors, reading and writing and is produced by a team of journalists and professional writers at the Verbal Arts Centre.
Arts and Regeneration
A ground breaking and award winning multi-community “co-design” project by Derry City Council that focuses on the development, distribution and critical exchange of ideas, opinions and concepts between local communities and urban regeneration planners.
Heritage Lottery Fund
As part of the Heritage Lottery Fund’s 2008 UK Conference, Verbal Media created an agenda setting video presentation reflecting on the future direction of Heritage within the context of diversity in the 21st Century.
Magnetic North
Design and layout of 360 page anthology Magnetic North, a landmark collection featuring emerging poets and poetry from the north of Ireland. Verbal Media managed all aspects of the project from page layout and 'space' for each individual poem to cover design, commissioned photography, production and print.
